The Story of G's

Local farming business, G's tell their story of farming in Cambridgeshire since the 1950s.

In 1952, Guy Shropshire bought 330 acres of land near Ely, Cambridgeshire.

Originally selling earth-covered celery in traditional bushel boxes to wholesalers, he invested in a purpose-built packhouse to supply washed celery, and Guy Pack was born. The company then became known as G’s, short for Guy’s. G’s is now one of Europe’s leading fresh produce companies.

This exhibition showcases their journey since 1952, including the developments they have made in agricultural machinery, sustainable farming and in their local communities. This exhibit makes a wonderful addition to the Farmland Museum’s displays, seamlessly continuing the story of Fenland agriculture where ours leaves off.
