Creative with Clay, with Blended Monkey

Start Date: 31st Aug 2025

Sunday 31 August 10.30 am – 4.00 pm

£95 including tea/coffee & biscuits throughout, all materials & use of equipment on the day, tutoring, glazing, firing and returning of pieces to the Farmland Museum.

Price also includes the biscuit firing of all pieces and subsequent glazing in your chosen colours and final glaze firing – work will be delivered back to the Farmland Museum & Denny Abbey or can be collected from Blended Monkey studios.

You’ll spend the morning of this relaxing & creative session learning how to create a piece of your own design using the coiling method – a very meditative and mindful process.

After lunch you’ll go on to create two large botanical/your own design vases using the slab and sprig method – you can bring along your own botanicals (grasses, flowers etc.) from your gardens or surroundings if you wish, but I will bring along enough for everyone in any case.

This method of making with clay uses rolled slabs which are cut to size, botanicals pressed in and then vases created using a former.

The pieces can be simple or elaborate. Louise will show you how to attach “sprigs” to the finished vases to create extra 3D effects if required.

The whole procedure will be explained from start to finish and also with the aid of real-time footage on a large screen showing each step up close.

Louise will then take all the pieces back to the Blended Monkey studios in Upwell where, once dry, she will glaze them in your chosen colours and fire them. The pieces will be returned to the Farmland Museum for collection or you can collect them from Blended Monkey studios.

The Docky Box Café has some truly scrumptious food to tempt you at lunchtime – plenty of yummy treats, so you won’t go hungry. Remember to pre-order your meal when you arrive.
